Introduction:
Enrolling in a commerical driver education course is an investment in yourself. After completing an application, CDL Academy works to help you achieve your goals. We invite you to explore our school. You are invited to call and make an appointment to visit the school.

CDL Academy LLC meets the requirements set forth in the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulation (FMCSR) for Entry-Level Training as required by 49 CFR § 380.503. The program also follows standards set by the Professional Truck Drivers Institute (PTDI).

Classroom Instruction is located at 713 Meridian, Cozad, Nebraska 69130. The classrooms/office area is 2,000 square feet with space for 5 students at a ratio of instruction to student of 1:5. A 75" screen allows for clear viewing of curriculum. Hands-on adaptive learning tools are stationed at the desks, and break room including a refrigerator and microwave for student use.

Behind-the-wheel instruction is provided at the range with easy access and minimum traffic. Students practice all necessary driving skills in the school's Freightliner semi-tractors (12-speed automatic transmission), 1 Volve (12-speed automatic), 1 Freighliner (10-speed manual), and trailers: 40', 45', 48', and 53'. All vehicles are equipped with adequate seating and are equipped with seat belts for all occupants.

These standards fill requirements for classroom, lab, and behind-the-wheel driving time. Classroom instruction focuses on fundamental basics. Labs are hands-on enabling the students to conduct proper pre-trip, enroute, and post-tripe (DVIR) inspections, proper hooking and unhooking procedures and sliding of tandems and fifth wheels.

Behind-the-wheel trainees will learn how to maneuver around tight corners, make proper lane changes, and drive in traffic. They will train in backing and docking. At the end of training, the school will facilitate the CDL Skills tests for the driver trainee. A major part of all instruction within this program deals with safety and professional conduct.
